2nd and Final Day of Shooting: Absolutely Perfect

I have so little time to talk about this day, but let me just say it was a beautiful and bright sunrise. For those of you that were there, leave a comment and tell how it was.

First day of shooting

Shooting was eventful this morning. It was early enough to hear the crickets and warm enough to perspire moderately. But alas, nature has not been merciful. We expected to shoot during the sunrise, but to our utter disappointment, the sun was too shy to show itself. No matter, we were able to record some great sound effects (walking in the dirt with expensive loafers, tuning an expensive violin etc.) and get some practice shots.

I've added a few pictures below.

Kaci Krommenhoek, a professional makeup artist, does makeup for Tyler smith just before shooting.

Our cinematographer, Ben Thompson, prepares a shot while actor/violinist, Tyler Smith tunes his violin.

I've outlined a 60-second commercial about 'waking up the world' i.e. the consumer world. Let's just say it will be an abstract idea presented by a violinist and the sun. The violinist, fed up with the lethargic sun, decides to take matters into his own hands by raising the sun with his music.

On location, Mom and Kaci watch and wait during production.

Providing exceptional talent and skill, actor and violinist, Tyler Smith, was on location playing the character of the mystery violinst. For this production, he had memorized the piece, Czardas, by Vittorio Monti. I'm sure it is now his favorite piece now...jibe, jibe. We took a series of shots with him playing the last 50 seconds of the piece. Tyler, a BYU senior studying Russian, has played with a variety of orchestras.

Another shot is prepared. I held the sheet music and the music player for Tyler Smith during each shot.

Having been awarded Outstanding Cinematographer, Ben Thompon used his artistic perspective to capture each sequence for the shooting. He also made sure some of the preliminary sounds were optimum. Ben, a BYU senior, is working his way into the advertising program or the broadcasting program.

Also on set with us this morning was Kaci Krommenhoek, an professional makeup artist who has worked on other productions. She provided the makeup for the mystery violinist (Tyler Smith).

Obviously, the sun is a vital part for this shooting, and we were left destitute without it.

Ben Thompson sets up a self-made crane-cam shot.
